What, You Don’t Have a Microwave?
Visitors are often taken aback when they realize we don’t have a microwave. We did have one, but decided to get rid of it after learning the potential health risks of microwaving food and beverages. The family was a bit more reluctant about this change than they are to most of the changes I propose. They are troopers, we have adapted and it is now a non-issue. Microwave ovens use short radio waves to affect the food’s water molecules to generate heat. This changes the chemical structure of the food or liquid. I’m no scientist, so that is my layman’s explanation....
How Does Your Pantry Stack Up?
Out of the Top 50 Essential Paleo Pantry Foods from Mark’s Daily Apple, I was only missing 8. Not bad. Of those 8, I would probably only consider bringing 2 of them in. I can live without the rest. Here is the link to his great list; http://www.marksdailyapple.com/top-50-essential-paleo-pantry-foods/. Not everyone is familiar with all these items and I'm often asked where I shop. Our groceries come from several different sources. My husband gardens some, with plans on much more next year! I get as much produce as possible, and sometimes chicken, cheese, coffee,...
Optimizing Your Time
Another objection I often hear from those new to healthy eating is that it is too time-consuming. Again, yes it can be, but there are many things you can do to optimize your efforts. First, I challenge you to move your and your family’s health up a bit on your priority list. Are there things you could cut back on in order to cook and eat healthier? You must always have a plan and you must always have healthy staples on hand. When those 2 things are in place, it's much easier to make good meal and snack choices. Choose a specific day to do your planning and...
Optimizing Your Organic Investment
When I work with people who are new to the primal life, an objection I often hear is that eating healthy and/or organic is expensive. OK, it can be, but it doesn’t have to be. Here's an example of how you can optimize your organic investment.</strong Every few weeks I buy 2 organic free-range chickens. Depending on size, they average about $20 each vs. about $4 for a CAFO (Concentrated Animal Feeding Operation) chicken at your grocery store. I'm sure that made some of you gasp, but please hear me out We are a family of 4; husband, 2 teenage daughters, and me....
Paleo f(x)
What an amazing 3 days at the Paleo f(x) 2017! I got to meet many of my health and fitness heroes, including Mark Sisson of Primal Blueprint where I received my Health Coach certification. Spending time learning more about my passion with like-minded people was incredibly energizing. I pushed my comfort zone quite a bit too. I brushed my teeth with black toothpaste, drank raw camel’s milk, drank gut shots, drank lucid dreaming tea, ate dried crickets, ate an FBomb, sat at an oxygen bar, and met people from all over the world. Most importantly, I met many...
